Worst ever ... "facilities" - at best a rundown port-a-potty shack - fifty flies in each of the two toilets for the entire ground floor and fifty more in each of the two showers for the entire ground floor. I have pictures of it ... just too bad I cant post them up No security, no customer service, no cleaning. The one thing they do have, a curfew, is a joke. Been to over a dozen cities in seven countires, and this is the WORST!

3 Ducks had such promise when I walked in the front room, actually a bar. It had a welcoming feel, discounted beer and internet access. But the hostel itself was a complete disappointment. The "bathrooms" were dirty and felt more like porta-potties you'd find at a carnival. The showers were not private, only a curtain separated mine from the room I was sharing with five males. At their best the staff ignored me, their worst they were so rude I was speechless. The hostel's 2am lock out policy is the worst thing about it though. That and the fact that they only take cash. Don't go to 3 Ducks!

If I could give this hostel a negative rating I would. The rooms were without doubt the worst I saw across the entire continent. "Matresses" - actually, hard lumps on a wooden slab - were disgusting, bathrooms beyond repulsive, and sleep completely unattainable. The staff were not helpful and the lockout was a joke: what's the point of locking out your guests for cleaning if no cleaning is EVER done!? Do NOT stay here if you value your health. 3 Ducks Sucks!!!

The 3 Ducks was close to the best hostel I stayed in Europe. The rooms and bathrooms weren't particularly clean and it would be a disaster if you were looking for some peace and quiet. But I loved the community feel of the front bar. Everyone has to pass through it to get to their room, so you get to know people really quickly. They play great music, there are usually a few sing alongs and a couple of my friends enjoyed a bit of romance. Unfortunately the French neighbors hate the Ducks and there are fears it will be shut down in 2005.

Rude staff, not private bathroom (despite it being a room for four), no security, the metro speeding past every five minutes, easily the worst place we stayed across the whole of Europe.

Utterly disgraceful.

Having stayed in a number of hostels over europe, I've never been in such a dirty, uncomfortable place.

The rooms weren't cleaned, beds uncomfortable and you get ripped off for sheet rental. And the ones given to me were ex-NHS, for people reading this from the UK.

On the ground floor the showers and toilets were shared with anyone, they smelt and showed no evidence of any attempt at cleaning.

I did not feel at all happy security wise in the room, from the way the staff were acting, I didn't even feel happy leaving my passport behind reception.

The reception staff were rude and unhelpful, very slow to to do anything, and check in takes a stupid amount of time.

The particular case was when the morning before we left, we wanted to pick up our passports before reception opened at 8am. Two people were already behind the bar, they refused to pick up our passports from a plastic wallet. Seems that they were incapable of doing such a tremendously hard task.

You won't get to sleep in this place. Especially if you are on the ground floor, where you have to listen to people in the courtyard till at one time 6am in the morning, the staff make no effort to keep them quiet. This courtyard is supposed to close at 10pm.

They sent us on a roundabout route to get to the airport on the metro. They neglected to tell us that a number of stations we were supposed to get on were closed, nearly making us miss our flight home.

Stay here at your peril. You're going to get ripped off for what you pay, we certainly were. I'd never recommend anyone stay here, it'd do everyone a world of good if the place was knocked down.

Not having much to compare to but having some standards, I would not recommend this place for more than a night or 2. My room was off the center courtyard, which you had to walk through to get to the bathroom and shower. The showers were gross and the bathroom wasnt the nicest. You are allowed to only pay for the night you stay, but if you want to stay the next night, you must pay by 8pm the night before. The room was acceptable, but you have a 2am curfew, so no going out. The luggage room is also just an empty room where everyone just puts there stuff whereever and hopes no one steals it. BRING A LOCK FOR YOUR SUITCASE IF YOU STAY!

Overall it was a decent place to stay and just what you expect from your average hostel at an average price. The patio was an attraction of sorts and the "bar" was usually too crowded too just have a drink and relax.

For my first hostel experience this was incredible. The staff was helpful and courteous. The other people staying in the hostel were friendly as well. The bar is loud if you are trying to get to bed early, but nothing too big of a deal. The location was perfect...we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breakfast of baguette, jam, and a beverage was quite a treat as well.

Great location-15 min walking distance to Eiffel tower! and few more minutes to the main sights! I had the best time at the 3 Ducks! Staff has been very friendly and very helpful! rooms are cleaned everyday! hot showers ! great bar with cheap beers. I met great people over there! Loud bar! This place is not for people who wants to have an early peaceful sleep! i just loved it and will recommend it to everybody! Good breakfast! very flexible with the lock out! the reception is at the bar!
