This is by far one of the cooler hostels i stayed in during my four week trip. It's a little pricey for a twin private (they also have dormitory rooms for 20 EUR a night)- 25 EUR a night, but the location, the people staying there, and the owner make it worthwhile. It is near Plaza Catalunya and a short walk from the famous La Rambla. The metro is also close by so all the great Barcelona sites are at your fingertips. There is no curfew and the place is pretty secure, even if there are no lockers. Senora Angie is there pretty much there the whole time except at night where she has a night staffer - cleaning and making sure all her guests are being taken care of. It is nice to have a matronly figure during a trip where at times you´re out of your element. Because Senora Angie and her staff are always cleaning (sheets on all beds are changed everyday, etc.) the place is very clean considering the heavy foot traffic that occurs every day. there are common bathrooms on both floors, but as a female i never felt uncomfortable sharing with the guys. the common room is a great place to hang out and meet people as they eat or wait for the internet (which is free by the way). the kitchens and refrigerators make eating cheaply very easy. another nice plus is if you ask her, Senora Angie will do your laundry for 6 EUR - washed, dried, and folded as you're out and about! She's also very chatty - which is great even though sometimes i didn't understand her rapid-fire Spanish. I highly recommend this place.

This place was really nice, it's very well located (1 block away from Plaza de Cataluna), it has a great atmosphere and it's relatively clean. It has a very well equipped kitchen, common room with TV and CD player, and a little balcony overlooking the street. The beds cost 20 euros/night, which is pretty expensive considering there are only 2 shower stalls on the floor (at least in the one I stayed) and 40 people sleeping there. There are no lockers either. Upper bunks are high and have no ladder so it is not that easy to climb up there at 4am when you can't turn the lights on and the person in the bottom bed is sleeping. The room where I stayed overlooked the street and was by the common room, which made it really noisy. As a conclusion I'd say that this hostel was really nice, the woman who runs it is really nice and fun, but the place isn't worth the 20€. If it cost say 16, I'd have given it 4 stars.
