Review:
I
found this hostel quite pleasant. It's not spacious, but
most of what you need is available. The other guests
came from a variety of foreign countries. This is a
refurbished older rowhouse.
Age
limits: 18-35. Ask if you are older than 35.
Price in September 2002: 14 pounds, including a simple
breakfast of cold cereal and milk, buns with jam and
butter, and coffee. Note that you have to pay with cash,
not by credit cards.
Location: Excellent especially if you are flying in or
out of Gatwick Airport. It's only a few blocks walk from
Victoria Station. Tube stop about 3-4 blocks (Victoria
or Pimlico). About a mile from Big Ben.
Cleanliness: Seemed fine.
Facilities: Small kitchen. I didn't try to use it.
Dining room in basement has a TV. Sitting room upstairs
has some publications and a pay-for-access computer. I
don't remember a laundry, but can't swear to this.
Rooms: The two rooms I stayed in (I was there at the
beginning and end of my stay) both had 8 beds. The bunks
and bedding were satisfactory.
Lockers and storage: I'm not sure about lockers. You
could store bags near the desk.
Showers: Like many things in this hostel, the showers
were small. But they worked fine. Note that as with most
hostels in Europe, towels are not included and are not
available. |
