This is a brief summary of some of
the places we stayed during our 7
month trip in Europe in 2000.
Things might have changed since
then so take that into
consideration.
Copenhagen:
Chickens Pensione -

Big, clean rooms with duvet
comforters, like sleeping at home!
Centrally located. Fridge but no
kitchen use.
Aarhus Vandrerhjem Pavillion -

Set in a forest/park, 3K from town.
Bus stops right by the hostel.
Standard HI rooms with private
bathrooms. Kitchen but oddly
enough, no dishes. Breakfast
available but not included.
Norway:
Berit Pensione -

bunks, shared bathroom.
Rooms and beds rented out in a
private pensione (her apartment).
Use of kitchen. 3 metro stops from
the center. Hot water scarce in the
single shower. A good value for
expensive Oslo. Breakfast not
included.
Marken Gjesthus -

Basic doubles and dorms close to
the train station. Breakfast not
included. Free laundry. Not really
worth the price.
Sweden:

We stayed in Skeppsholmen (the
building across from the boat) as
the boat (Af Chapman) was full.
Standard HI rooms. Nice kitchen.
For the modest, not all showers
were curtained off - sort of a gym
feel. Book early, fills up months
in advance.

Large, bright rooms. I could see
some of the rooms having street

Germany:

Bright, spacious rooms with
extremely helpful staff. One of the
best hostels we stayed in. Lots of
bathrooms, finding a shower wasn't
a problem. Hostel offers a
fantastic walking tour - Brewers
Best of Berlin.
Hotel Pension Von Blumfield -

Double bed, shared bathroom.
Large, bright rooms - some might
have street noise. Friendly hosts,
close to the train station.
Breakfast included.
Pensione Haydn -

Clean doubles with TV. 10-15 minute
walk to train station. Breakfast
included.
Czech. Republic
Hostel Standart -

Grimy and old but cheap if you
aren't picky. Bathroom are dark and
scary. Staff was miserable. 2 trams
stops from the railway station.
