Don't let first impresions get to you. The people are friendy and
the bar is a great place to light up a joint. The drug rules are great to, they
dont care if you are doing "soft drugs" ie weed shrooms, or a little E. The
walk up to the room is a bit of a bitch (gets harder when you are stoned out of
your brain). The showers could do with alot of work. but they work and there is
good hot water. Over all I thought that it was a great place if you are wanting
the full on red light district experiance.

The best thing about the meeting point is that the staff are
friendly and very tollerant. When you are broke and have no where else to go,
the bar provides solice for us weary, smoked out souls. Communal living takes a
bit of patience, you have to deal with people checking in at all hours. For
some reason oil drums get 10times louder at 3am. Beats the hell out of me!
In fairness, you arent going to beat this place for price and location. If what
you want is a roof over your head and somewhere you can call base camp this is
it. Once again the staff are a welcome antidote to some of the obnoxiuos bar
and coffee shop owners you are certified to encounter in the dam. I'm thinking
about returning at easter. If like me, all you want is a roof over your head,
and somewhere to keep your stuff: this is your place. I actually liked it much
more than this, but then again my standards are much lower than those of most.

Location is the only thing that gives this place 2 stars. You have
to climb about 1000 stairs to get to your room only to find that it smells like
complete ass and the bathrooms is filthy. No lockers provided, but there is
security at the door. 1 night was enough for me.

I loved this hostel. Its so close to the station!!
It was a long climb to the top floor but it was cheap and cheerful. The guys
running the place were great! All so helpful and friendly.
We loved the bar. It was so comfy to lounge out in when completely baked. Good
music too.
As far as staying in the red light district, who cares? At least theres lots of
people about. Id rather loads of people around than one or 2 dodgy looking
guys.
For what you pay, i thought this hostel was great value. I'll be back!

Well, this place is in the first street of the Red Light
district... It is also not very clean and not very
ventilated (odors you know!). The lockers are in fact
big bins and there are not many people to meet. I
definatly think you can find a better place. |
