This hostel has THE BEST STAFF EVER!!! They were so nice
and helped us with day trips, booking train times and
even lent us their hairdryer when we forgot ours! The
hostel is cool too, nice cosy communal area and free net
access. 2 steps from the Pope's house too! Definitely
recommended - keep on rockin. |

Review:
Pensione Ottaviano has a lot going for it. It is very
near to the Vatican and within easy walking distance of
the other sites, or close to the Ottaviano station of
the Metropolitana if you're not a walker. In a nice,
safe area, it is small, but that makes it cozy and
friendly. There are only two or three mixed sex dorms.
The downside to its smallness is that the common room is
the main reception area and so there's no comforts like
couches etc, just tables and chairs. But you usually get
to know people really well because of this. Plenty of
information is available regarding Rome in the reception
area. It is in an old (19th century?) building and was
generally pretty clean and tidy. Only one gripe was that
despite its size, the bathrooms were in high demand and
the line was often long in the mornings and they tended
to get a little grubby. Definitely not a party hostel,
again due to its size, but great for meeting people.
Just be aware that I stayed there quite a while ago (5
years) but decided to do a review as amazingly no one
has yet. So check out what the latest guidebooks have to
say, until hopefully I've been succeeded by someone
whose visit was more recent. |
