Living up to its hype and them some the glorious Pop Inn is a joy that anyone wanting to experience Rome on a backpacker's budget should try. Situated 2 minutes (yes, really) from Rome's main Termini train station the hostel has no lock-out or curfew and has a large common room with comfy chairs and tables for knackered wanderers to rest and drink a beer or three. Every night they show a DVD on the huge plasma screen TV (when I was there it was K-Paxx and Gladiator).

Dorms are mixed (there is an 'under 35' rule here, although not in the dearer private rooms) and prices start at 16 Euros per night.

Beds are comfortable with linen provided and you can tell how much attention to detail they’ve taken when you first spot the framed X-Men & Batman posters on the dorm walls). You may use any bathroom in the hotel and hot water is free and on demand. Lockers are also provided (bring your own lock) and there is free Internet access from around 8am- 10pm via 2 pcs in the common room.

The staff are friendly and a good laugh and unlike some hostels I've stayed in where the attitude seems to be 'beds, bog and belligerence' the creators of Pop Inn have taken a great deal of effort to make everyone feel welcome and make the whole experience similar to a students’ union.

You can also sleep in as late as you like (handy if you’ve been drinking till 5am) and return at any hour without fear of the front door being bolted in your face. A voucher gets you a free 24 hour Italian breakfast from the café round the corner and they have a deal with various local restaurants that gives you 10% off the price of a meal.

I also met some wonderful people here, the only down side to that being when you wake up to find your drinking buddy/ snogging partner from the previous evening has gone, having left at the crack of dawn for a flight elsewhere. Highly recommended in every way...wonderful.

Easy to find, right across the street from the train station. The staff are friendly and helpful. Just be ready to climb a lot of stairs.

A great place to stay and so close to the train station. The staff is very friendly and easy to talk too. The only problem was some of the people who stayed in the hostel and if you don't close the window you will get no sleep. Besides this the showers and bathroom are always clean. They also give you free breakfast at a little coffee shop down the street. I would recommend staying here=)

This place is amazing! They provide you with everything you need and after our bad experience in Venice we didn't take clean and nice rooms, great staff and a lovely atmosphere for granted anymore. If you want to feel like home you should really stay in this wonderful place! Thanks to the staff for making our stay a great one!!! Steve, Bradley, Kim and Ashley

Absolutely the best! Perfect location just across the main station. The day we left going back home, we were allowed to leave our backpacks until our train left, which was great because we could spend another day in Rome. It is within walking distance from everywhere. This hostel is also the cleanest one we ever saw during our trip in Italy. Our room was just as good as an expensive hotel but we paid the same rate we did for dorm beds in other places. They don't lack any facilities, free hot shower 24 hours, free lockers, free breakfast, FREE INTERNET in a nice common room... and the staff was always helpful and friendly! A really excellent hostel.
