A quiet, pleasant place--almost felt like we weren't in Amsterdam. A good deal, friendly staff, and clean enough. The curfew was the only annoying part--I came back one night around 11:30 and everyone except for me was already sound asleep in the 14-bed dormitory.

This hostel was a pleasant break from my rough and fast travel through Europe. The Shelter provided comfortable and safe accomodation, hot breakfasts and super friendly staff. If you are looking for a place to rest and chat then the staff and guests are always happy to oblige. My only advice is to use your lockers! Being in a room with 15+ ppl you can't really tell who's who. So watch your stuff!

This isn't the most convenient hostel, but it is located in a quiet neighborhood, not far from a tram stop. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean. We stayed in a 10+ person dormitory and didn't have any problems. They do have a curfew which was no problem for me, but may interfere with the nightlife scene. A hot breakfast was included and the kitchen was open throughout the day for snacks. Would stay here again.
