The hostel is in walking distance to the railway station, quite
central. Rooms are spacy, so are the showers. Unfortunately not very clean,
that could be improved. The continental breakfast is rather a French one, and
being booked into a dormitory female room meant waking up among men - not too
bad when you know this in advance. The staff is very kind!

This is an adequate, friendly place to stay. The rooms
are clean but a little run down. The building itself is
an old Victorian, I think. The area seemed to be pretty
safe and within easy walking distance of both downtown
and the train station. There is a lot of information on
York and Yorkshire here- which is an advantage. The
people at the desk were also a great help and very
interested what I was going to see that day and giving
me advice. The bathrooms were big and well lit, compared
to other hostels. The breakfast was good.
